Skin Cancer

Skin cancers are the most common type of cancers diagnosed in the United States today. Caused by a combination of genetic factors, sunburns, and chronic sun over-exposure, we diagnose and treat skin cancers every day.

There are many treatment options available for skin cancers, depending on the location and type. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common kind, followed closely by squamous cell carcinoma, and then melanoma.

Melanoma is one of the most serious and aggressive skin cancers, with potential for spread and metastasis. Early diagnosis is critical, with a surgical cure being possible in the early stages.

If you have developed a new or a changing mole on your skin that has been present for over 4-6 weeks and is getting larger, bleeding, itching, or changing color, please call to schedule an appointment to have it checked by Dr. Amy Valet or Dr. Shaba today at 615-212-3012.
